Lost Island

Cumbre Vieja in Spanish means Old Summit. Cumbre Vieja is an active volcanic ridge on the volcanic ocean island of Isla de La Palma in the Canary Islands. This ridge makes up one third of the southern section of the island and  is lined by several volcanic craters.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano is the youngest constituent of the island of La Palma. It is a very steep-sided oceanic island volcano. It is a type that can go through large-scale lateral crumple with slight precursory deformation. The term “Isla de La Palma” denote “The Island of Palms” or “Palm Island.” La Palma ranks fifth largest of the seven Canary Islands.

Isla de La Palma is known as “La Palma” in English is Spanish. Spain or the Kingdom of Spain is a country located in Southern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. The Spanish constitution does not set up any official denomination of the country, even though Espa?a , Estado espa?ol and Naci?n espa?ola are make use of volcanic ocean island interchangeably. It is one of the seven most important Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands are a Spain archipelago which, in turn, forms one of the Spanish Autonomous Communities and an Outermost Region of the European Union in the Atlantic Ocean.

Santa Cruz de la Palma is to be found in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the Canary Islands and in Los Llanos de Aridane on the eastern part of the island of La Palma.

La Palma is a volcanic ocean island, alike to other islands of the Canary Island archipelago. La Palma is influenced by blue, green and black. Blue symbolize the neighboring ocean, Green correspond to the plentiful flora life and Black signify the volcanic rocks that develop the landscape and the numerous playas (beaches) of black sand.

Geological facts put forward that during a future eruption, Cumbre Vieja Volcano on the Island of La Palma occurrence of a catastrophic failure of its west flank, dropping rocks into the sea. This will result in producing a large tsunami that would cover the whole Atlantic Ocean.
